Health Care Management (Bachelor Degree)

The Health Care Management program provides medical students with an overview of accounting, marketing, finance, law and management to prepare them for managerial positions within the health care industry. Students will develop knowledge and skills in research, critical thinking, problem solving and current technology for application and use in a health care setting. The program also focuses on teamwork, leadership skills and professional ethics within the health care business environment. This program has been developed as a completion program for students who have graduated from an accredited associate degree program in Medical Assistant, Medical Reimbursement Technology, Therapeutic and Clinical Massage, or a related area, or who have earned college credit equivalent to such a degree. Additional coursework may be required in order to meet the prerequisite requirements.
Medical Assistant (Associate Degree)

This program provides students with the skills necessary to be proficient in both front and back office procedures. Students receive hands-on training so that they are able to assist physicians in minor surgery, perform laboratory tests, assess vital signs, administer medication, operate an ECG machine, and perform other therapeutic modalities prescribed by physicians. Medical Assistants are employed in physicians’ offices, medical clinics, laboratories, and other health agencies.
Medical Reimbursement Technology (Associate Degree)

This program focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to apply coding classification systems for billing medical professional services to insurance companies, maintaining patient accounts, and performing billing procedures for optimal claim reimbursement.
Medical Laboratory Technology (Associate Degree)

This program is designed to provide students with the academic, professional and clinical skills needed for entry level positions as a Medical Laboratory Technician. Program objectives include qualifying students to competently and safely perform procedures in collection, processing and analyzing biological specimens, and in the multiple aspects of routine clinical laboratory tests, such as hematology, microbiology, immunology, and other emerging diagnostic tests. The student will also be able to apply professional standards and ethics in the performance of evaluation, quality assessment and management of laboratory results and in the communication of patient information as part of the healthcare team.
Associate Degree in Nursing (Associate Degree)

This program is designed to provide the student with the academic, professional and clinical skills needed for entry-level registered nurse staff positions in a variety of health care settings. The program trains students to develop competency and responsibility in providing and managing care for patients across the lifespan, in collaboration with members of the healthcare team. The program also emphasizes lifelong learning. This full-time Nursing program requires clinical practicum, some during evening hours. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are prepared to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and are provided the foundation for career mobility in nursing.
Surgical Technology (Associate Degree)

This program is designed to provide students with an academic and clinical background in the field of surgical technology. Students develop the skills necessary to be a knowledgeable, professional and responsible member of the surgical team. The program prepares students for entry-level positions in a number of health care facilities including hospitals, medical centers, and public and private surgical centers.
Therapeutic and Clinical Massage (Associate Degree)

This program provides students with an understanding of the body and its functions, and teaches specialized massage techniques and therapeutic skills. These include, but are not limited to, sports massage, therapeutic massage, neuromuscular therapy, and kinesiology. Skills for client-therapist relations, communication, and promotion complete this well-rounded degree that prepares the student for entry into massage career opportunities and to pursue national certification.
Occupational Medical Spanish (Certificate)

This program is designed to train employees in the Medical field, who are native English speakers, to communicate effectively with patients whose primary language is Spanish. The program includes reading comprehension and written communication with an emphasis on oral communication skills. Upon completion of this program, students will have a working knowledge base of the Spanish language in a health care setting designed to help patients correctly complete medical forms and receive appropriate medical care.
Therapeutic Massage Practitioner (Certificate)

This program teaches the necessary skills for treatment goals of muscular and general relaxation, stress reduction, pain management, recovery from injury, health promotion, education, and body awareness. Coursework focuses on understanding the body and its functions, mastering multiple techniques, and honing such skills as client assessment, communication, and self-evaluation. Upon completion of this program, students may transfer all earned credits toward the Therapeutic and Clinical Massage associate of applied science degree program.
