The Accounting Bachelor of Science degree program provides students with an understanding of theory and application related to an accounting environment, including training in performance analysis, budgeting, managing controls, taxation, and auditing. This program has been developed as a completion program for students who have graduated from an accredited associate degree program in Accounting, or a related area, or who have earned college credit equivalent to such a degree. The Human Resources program provides students with the skills needed to maintain an organization's personnel records; assist with internal and external notification of position openings; help in the hiring process; answer employee questions; prepare reports for managers; administer aptitude tests, and screen applicants. The Accounting Assistant program covers basic bookkeeping, computerized accounting, and beginning accounting theory. It prepares students for entry-level positions in billing, accounts payable or receivable, or bookkeeping. The Health Care Management program provides medical students with an overview of accounting, marketing, finance, law and management to prepare them for managerial positions within the health care industry. Students will develop knowledge and skills in research, critical thinking, problem solving and current technology for application and use in a health care setting. The program also focuses on teamwork, leadership skills and professional ethics within the health care business environment. This program has been developed as a completion program for students who have graduated from an accredited associate degree program in Medical Assistant, Medical Reimbursement Technology, Therapeutic and Clinical Massage, or a related area, or who have earned college credit equivalent to such a degree. This program provides students with the skills necessary to be proficient in both front and back office procedures. Students receive hands-on training so that they are able to assist physicians in minor surgery, perform laboratory tests, assess vital signs, administer medication, operate an ECG machine, and perform other therapeutic modalities prescribed by physicians. Medical Assistants are employed in physicians’ offices, medical clinics, laboratories, and other health agencies.

 

 

  

 

This program focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to apply coding classification systems for billing medical professional services to insurance companies, maintaining patient accounts, and performing billing procedures for optimal claim reimbursement.

 

 

  

 

This program is designed to provide students with the academic, professional and clinical skills needed for entry level positions as a Medical Laboratory Technician. Program objectives include qualifying students to competently and safely perform procedures in collection, processing and analyzing biological specimens, and in the multiple aspects of routine clinical laboratory tests, such as hematology, microbiology, immunology, and other emerging diagnostic tests. The student will also be able to apply professional standards and ethics in the performance of evaluation, quality assessment and management of laboratory results and in the communication of patient information as part of the healthcare team. 

 

 

 

 

This program is designed to provide the student with the academic, professional and clinical skills needed for entry-level registered nurse staff positions in a variety of health care settings. The program trains students to develop competency and responsibility in providing and managing care for patients across the lifespan, in collaboration with members of the healthcare team. The program also emphasizes lifelong learning. This full-time Nursing program requires clinical practicum, some during evening hours. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are prepared to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and are provided the foundation for career mobility in nursing.

 

 

 

 

This program is designed to provide students with an academic and clinical background in the field of surgical technology. Students develop the skills necessary to be a knowledgeable, professional and responsible member of the surgical team. The program prepares students for entry-level positions in a number of health care facilities including hospitals, medical centers, and public and private surgical centers.

 

 

 

 

This program provides students with an understanding of the body and its functions, and teaches specialized massage techniques and therapeutic skills. These include, but are not limited to, sports massage, therapeutic massage, neuromuscular therapy, and kinesiology. Skills for client-therapist relations, communication, and promotion complete this well-rounded degree that prepares the student for entry into massage career opportunities and to pursue national certification.

 

 

 

 

This program is designed to train employees in the Medical field, who are native English speakers, to communicate effectively with patients whose primary language is Spanish. The program includes reading comprehension and written communication with an emphasis on oral communication skills. Upon completion of this program, students will have a working knowledge base of the Spanish language in a health care setting designed to help patients correctly complete medical forms and receive appropriate medical care.

The mission of this program is to provide a strong foundation in both business and technology skills that are core essentials in information technology careers. It combines basic business concepts, interpersonal communication, customer service skills and standard applications training with technical skill in the areas of hardware, networking, programming, databases and web development. This curriculum provides students with the skills necessary to identify computer networks based on the structure, application and size of the network including local, campus and wide-area networks. Graduates will be prepared to solve problems with computer software using programming structures, logical design, software design, data representation, algorithm development, efficiency and correctness. Students will also learn how information and decisions are derived from data and how to maintain data integrity while storing, retrieving and updating data. This program provides the necessary skills for students to start their careers as professionals in the information technology industry.

 

 

 

 

This degree provides a solid foundation in both the business and technology skills that are required in today's office settings. A Harrison Certificate in Microsoft training is an excellent way to enter a career in Information Technology or advance your career in the IT industry. The Microsft Certified Information Technology Professional (M.C.I.T.P.) certificate program teaches students about the new Microsoft Vista Client Configuration, as well as troubleshooting, configuration and administration of Windows Servers. The M.C.I.T.P. credential shows customers and employers that you have the skills necessary to perform a particular job role, such as enterprise administrator. M.C.I.T.P. certifications build on the technical proficiency measured in the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (M.C.T.S.) certifications. Therefore, you will earn one or more M.C.T.S. certiifications on your way to earning an M.C.I.T.P. credential.

This one-year Microsft Certified Sytems Support (M.C.S.S.) program is designed to instill in individuals a level of expertise thereby enabling you to obtain certification through Microsoft and CompTIA. The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (M.C.S.A.) credential shows customers and employers that you have the skills necessary to successfully manage and troubleshoot network environments running on Windows (2003) server systems. The M.C.S.A. is an industry standard and focuses on system management and troubleshooting. This program includes enhancements to the program that will assist students to be successful in the program and prepares them to take Microsoft's official certification exams such as CompTIA A+, Network+ and Specialist areas of the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (M.C.S.A.) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (M.C.S.E.).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

SCHOOL OF VETERINARY TECHNOLOGY

 

 

This program is designed to prepare students to enter into a career as a Veterinary Technician. The technician typically will conduct clinical work in a private practice under the supervision of a veterinarian performing such medical duties as giving injections; taking x-rays; anesthetizing patients; offering post-operative care; cleaning teeth, and much more. The curriculum covers all areas of animal patient care, from lab tests to radiology procedures and counseling for the care of sick animals, as well as preventive measures. Graduates are prepared and must sit for the State Board exam to become Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT).
